Hi, Just joined the board.
My father (who was a plumber) installed an Oil-Fired 2-oven Aga in about 1970, to replace a solid-fuel Rayburn.
After mum's death in early 2007 my brother & I inherited the bungalow (set in 1/2 acre) and decided to rebuild. The old Aga was showing it's age the boiler was starting to leak and we had been having oil problems for a time, so we decided to replace it with a new 30 amp 2-oven model.
Having endured this past winter in a mobile-home on the front lawn, with a gas cooker and a microwave, it was a pleasure to cook (and eat) our Christmas dinner in the then unfinished house. The Aga performed brilliantly (needless to say); the 26lb turkey went into the top oven at 4:45 (when Chris went off to the farm for morning milking) and was transferred to the bottom oven at 10:30. The vegetables came in fresh from the garden.
There was then a bit of a lull, until we moved in at the end of February. We're gradually getting the house sorted and look forward to some serious cooking.
All the best,
