Dark bottoms

Postby Lesleykansas on Tue Jul 11, 2017 4:50 pm

My scones come out well risen, soft and fluffy but their bottoms are very dark. Tried using 2nd set of runners instead of 3rd, use bacoglide on the tray. Any other ideas?

After trial and error have worked out a satisfactory solution. I was using the Aga anodised baking trays which are dark in colour and I remembered when I lived in the US recipes there often said "if using dark coloured bakeware reduce the temp or shorten the time". Tried both those things neither worked but tried using the cold shelf instead of a baking tray and that solved the problem.
