I work for Total Butler and they have just borught out a new product into the market its called "Total Glowmax"

TOTAL GLOWMAX is an additive-enhanced home heating oil, designed to burn more efficiently than standard kerosene. Its advanced formula
contains additives which help protect and care for the sensitive parts of your heating system, making it run more smoothly.
It also reduces sediment in your tank and ignites quicker then kerosene and paraffin.

Tried, tested and approved by Aga

Whether you have an Aga at home or not, you can relax in the knowledge that throughout its development, TOTAL GLOWMAX has been trialled
by Aga and measures up to some of the industry’s most challenging tests.

If you want more information or you are interested in purchasing Glowmax you can contact Total Butler on 01787 251021 - 01787 251019

Methinks a blatant sales pitch such as this should not be here!

I would not accept any of the claims made here until I have seen the report of the Aga Rayburn Trials .
I would think it most unlikely that Aga would endorse any single fuel supplier !

Give us the evidence "Glowman"

Obviously some people are going to be sceptical of our new product, alot of people keep to what they know.

I can assure you that this product is completly genuine it has been developed over the last 6 years and AGA have taken it and tested it.

Glowmax is 100% endorsed by AGA i have left a link on my first post to the Total Butler website giving more information about the product.

Glowmax has already been in circulation in france with great success.

If you ring AGA and speak to somebody in the marketing department they will inform you that my claims are all true and that Total Glowmax is a much cleaner product, reducing the amount of call outs needed to be made for servicing of your AGA.

We've had tech blurb through from Aga.....Shell have been selling similar stuff for years, a company I worked for use to mix PBO (parafin) in with the Kero which helped, but if Total want to do something useful maybe they should help put pressure on the people refining the stuff.
And it looks like the new buzz word here is micro-biological life forms....so all of a sudden the moisture in tanks now supports this stuff and that is what is half the trouble......strange that these problems are fairly recent or has it taken these life forms a few years to mutate or is this another sign of global warming...

I also got this in the post today and the reason for me joining this forum is to find out about this very topic!!!!

One question really - what exactly ARE the BENEFITS?

It says it's more efficient - but there's no stats to say how much by - will it save me a gallon a day / week / month?

It rambles on about burning cleaner - and no soot - but doesn't say how it effects performance - such as heating for less time / less noise etc. Will I only need to clean the flue one every other year then – saving me the chimney sweep costs?

I've been in Sales & more latterly in Marketing for over 12 years now - and to bring something to market without consumer benefits clearly communicated is a waste of money (which is profit essentially – or money that Total Butler could apply to reducing the cost per litre down for their customers).

Can't wait for your response.......

Hi,

Yes, Aga's Technical Support have just confirmed to me that they have approved Total Glowmax for use with their range - and (to date) only Total Glowmax.

I am new to this forum, so hi all. I just found it yesterday when my oil supplier recommended this stuff, and I wasn't prepared to believe it until I had checked with Aga. The Tech Support guy was a bit grumpy, I guess he must be getting a lot of these calls, poor chap. I got his phone number from the Aga web site.

The Aga Rayburn technical support guys can seem a bit grumpy initially, but are quite helpful providing you are not asking really stupid questions.
Generally they are there to help us techs out in the field to resolve problems , but they occasionally have to deal with the general public in which case grumpy but polite is the way they can appear.

I have heard similar from other sources!

I think we need independent tests .. (Soon)

A trading standards chappie once said to me ( and I quote )
"If a Salesman told me it was Thursday , I would not believe him until I had checked my calender"

Apparently, you have to put Glowmax into a COMPLETELY EMPTY AND CLEAN oil tank - otherwise it emulsfies with the other oil and clogs up.

I have heard great things about it from several people, but it has to go into a clean empty tank to work properly.
