Aga engineer required in Southampton

Postby Carolyn on Thu Jun 22, 2006 6:39 pm

Our CORGI registered gas engineer has happily serviced our Aga as well as our gas boiler for the last 3 years. However our Aga has developed a slight leak recently and he doesn't feel confident to tackle the job. The Aga is a converted gas Aga (oldish) and heats our water.

We live in Southampton - is there someone out there who could confidently take a look and give us an idea of our options with estimates for the costs involved.
Thanks

Could just be the boiler gasket, remove the 4 chrome caps unscrew the 4 large screws lift the top plate of. The cooker needs to be off.REMOVE THE ROCKWOOL on the left hand side of your cooker.Scoop out the vermiculite to the left hand side untill it is lower than the boiler.Check to see what is leaking.Should only take 1hr approx to get to this stage.

Thanks so much for your helpful reply. We thought we would take up your suggestion, as you made it sound very manageable. We took the chrome caps off, but we haven't yet found anyone with a large enough screwdriver to unscrew the four large screws! (never a simple as it seems is it)
